Why you should have a professional voicemail greeting
First off, and maybe most obviously, it sounds good! Nobody in your office likes recording them, so why force them to do it? Their reluctance and anxiety about doing the job will come across in the recording. What sort of first impression of a business is that to give to callers? A bad one, that's what.
A voiceover artist knows how to use the right tones, inflections, pace and prosody to make sure you're communicating with your caller in a way they would expect - as if they were meeting a representative form your business face to face.
You spend money on making your business look good, so why not spend money making it sound good too? Which leads me to my next point...
It shows you care about every aspect of your business. It's a detail that often gets brushed under the carpet and forgotten about forever. A "that'll do" attitude about business answer messages just doesn't cut it I'm afraid.
Here's a scenario for you. Dave is ringing round a bunch of local <insert any type of business> to find the best for his needs. He's greeted with 6 terrible voicemails that sound like they've been recorded under a table whilst the boss looks on angrily and one that is a professional voiceover artist. Which has the better chance of reeling Dave in?
There's a lot more advantages but I'll leave you with this one. It can give your brand an identity and make it feel human. Especially if you've decided to keep the robot voice that came pre-installed. There's no better way to connect with a caller than to use a voice over artist.
